I am teaching English in Taiwan for 9 months so I only need a one-way ticket. I am needing to leave in late August or early September 2007. What days are best? Is late August or early September better? What airlines, websites, or another other helpful suggestion. Thank you in advance!!
The lowest airfare between US and Taiwan can be purchased from Chinese/Taiwanese travel agencies in SF, LA, NY or Boston area. If you are near any of these cities, you could find listings of travel agencies in the Chinese language newspapers: World Journal or Singtao. If you don t read Chinese, maybe you could ask someone who does to help you read the classifieds for the local travel agencies nearest you that sell discounted airline tickets to Taiwan.
You can t enter Taiwan with a one-way ticket unless you already have an ARC, work visa, or you are a resident of Taiwan. You school should have explained this to you. You can t enter Taiwan on a visitor s visa with a one-way ticket.
When I first came here, I had to purchase an open-ended, 12-month ticket through a travel agency. I also had to get a one (or maybe it was two-months) visitors visa. But those are typically only good for a single entry, and are also not allowed with a one-way ticket.
Malaysian Airline is the cheapest, but not the most comfortable. Call the airline directly to get a quote. But some of the local travel agencies that specialized in travels to Asia may have the cheapest prices. References :
