As you know, Icrontic Oktoberfest 2012 is going to be held at the new ICHQ in Detroit. As it is a house under renovation, with only one shower and two toilets, as well as a distinct lack of furniture, accommodations will be slightly less home-y than the old ICHQ. That said, there is a world-class hotel just blocks from ICHQ Detroit. It's a very straight and quick walk to the Motor City Casino, just up Trumbull from ICHQ Detroit. If I can get at least 7 rooms booked, I can get a group rate of $129/night for a double room (two beds). The rate includes free parking and internet. The rooms are very swank and the MCC is a top-notch destination in Detroit. The thing about where we live in Detroit is that there aren't many accommodations nearby international travel agency that aren't nice hotels. We live very close to downtown Detroit so there are a lot of business and tourist-class hotels, but a distinct lack of chain motels like Warren had (La Quintas and whatnot). The other option for those willing to share rooms is the Hostel Detroit, which is far cheaper and also very close. At any rate, for me to get the group rate for Motor City Casino, I need definite headcounts. Please respond here if you are interested in staying at the Motor City Casino. Here is the spreadsheet . It's really looking like the wife will be staying behind for school and I'd be coming alone. I'll more than likely be leaving Thursday night to head out and staying Friday and Saturday driving international travel agency back Sunday afternoon (possibly night depending on what work says about Monday telework). I don't mind staying in a room alone, but if someone wants a place to sleep and split a price I'm open to offer a bed and room to stay in. It'll be for Friday night and Saturday night.
I'll either split a room with my girlfriend, or if she can't make it, split a room with @mertesn . I'll try to figure out whether or not she can make it soon. I'll need another couple of weeks. If Sept 12th is still the deadline, that'll help. I'm also trying to figure international travel agency out how many nights I can afford to stay. Friday and Saturday nights at most. I won't be able to do 3 nights. Basically, I wouldn't put me on the spreadsheet until I figure stuff out.
Yeah. It was a long shot and I honestly didn't think I'd get a call back after the phone interview, but they flew me to San Antonio for an in person with a week's study time. I think this will actually be a good catalyst to study hard for the next two months or so, pick up several certs and then talk to them/others again if a possible job doesn't come up in September (but that one is definitely Dallas based, at least initially).
