In your review of Koa Kea you mention that the restaurant serves Opah. I had Opah once in another restaurant in Hawaii and thought it was the most delicious fish I had ever eaten, but I have been unable to find it anywhere else. Is it only available in Hawaii?
@Matt Funny you should ask--I'm in NYC and have been able to find Hawaiian Opah sometimes at Whole Foods. I believe Opah is also caught off California and Australia and New Zealand, but it's not widely available since it doesn't school and is often bycatch when fishing for deep water tuna.
