Another must-do on Maui is the Road to Hana. I'd suggest if you can get a Jeep or Convertible for a
poll: Is a Hawaiian helicopter tour worth it? YES! - Book it now, you won't regret it! : (9 votes) 64 % Nah... Way over priced - just look out the window as you fly in : (2 votes) 14 % Save it for next time... satire in gullivers travels Its pretty cool, but you can save it for an anniversary trip in a few years : (3 votes) 21 %
I did this many years ago, but didn't pay for it (I went to Hawaii with my family). I had no idea it was that expensive!! It was really cool, but I could think of a lot of other things you could do for 500 dollars. Also, maybe there will be other helicopter tours once you are there which will be cheaper.
We're just going for a weekend on a neighbor island (live on Oahu) and are deciding on this as well. I mean, one thing to consider is that almost all tourist activities are expensive.... I've never done it even though we live in HI, and we're moving soon after, so we're still considering it... There are things like museums/historical sites that aren't expensive though. If you're going to go over the volcano, I've been told NOT to walk, only go by helicopter and it's not worth it to walk. That's the only advice I have, unfortunately.
There are a variety of tours you can do at different prices. They range from about $140 ea. to $400 ea. depending on where/how long you go. - At least you get a discount if you book online before you go.
My brother got married in Kauai and we did a helicopter tour there. It was one of the highlights of the trip as we got to see absolutely beautiful things we never would have seen from the ground. We flew over the ocean at one point and saw a bunch of whales swimming satire in gullivers travels below us. It was pricey for sure, but for us it was totally worth it.
I did one in Kauai where the terrain you can't access by land is the most beautiful I have ever seen in my life. I don't know about the other islands but it was absolutely the best money we spent in Kauai!!!! Spectacular!!
My DH and I went to Maui for our honeymoon this January, but we didn't have a chance to book a helicopter tour. They are so expensive! But I think that if we would have had the money, then we would have definitely done it. We did have a great time, though. I would definitely recommend to not miss the Road to Hana. It was my favorite part of the week. I have never seen such a beautiful place in my whole life. But if you do, prepare meals for the whole day and get one of those CD guides. Oh, and if you are in the city of Lahaina, I recommend the Aloha Mixed Plate for a good meal. It is right on the coast, and the food was great. Have a great time!
My husband and I honeymooned in Maui, so I can definitely offer you advice! First of all, get the book Maui Revealed by Andrew Doughty. That book has some GREAT advice for things to do, places to eat, hikes, satire in gullivers travels and different companies to do stuff. We loved it.
If you decide to do a helicopter ride, do a West Maui/Molokai tour. The cliffs on Molokai are breathtaking . Hubby and I splurged and did this and we LOVED it. It was by far one of our favorite excursions of the trip. We went through Alex Air for our trip. They have helicopters without doors so you can some really amazing views. Our pilot was really cool too and showed us a lot of awesome sights. If you have the money, do it!
As far the Halekala Sunrise Bike Tour - another must-see! The sunrise coming over the crater is beautiful . Just make sure you have warm clothing and/or blankets satire in gullivers travels because it is cold up there that early in the morning! The bike ride down was a lot of fun for most people, but I didn't love it. I'm not a huge biker and you have to maintain pretty good speeds satire in gullivers travels (20-25 mph) down the mountain and the roads can be pretty satire in gullivers travels curvy. I did the first five miles and then quit, although apparently the first five miles was the worst, haha. I should've kept going, but I was scared. The husband LOVED it though.
Another must-do on Maui is the Road to Hana. I'd suggest if you can get a Jeep or Convertible for a rental car, those would be the best. There are so many beautiful sites to see on the way to Hana - it's gorgeous! The Maui Revealed book came in sooooo handy, because it gave us hints as to where all the good stops were and stuff. Be warned though, the road is VERY windy and it'll take a good 2-5 hours to get to Hana, and then you have to drive home, haha. We also continued past Hana to see the Seven Sacred Pools which was fun.
The only thing we loved doing in Maui was going hiking. We took the Maui Revealed book and went exploring on the west side of the island, because we figured we weren't satire in gullivers travels going to do much else over there. satire in gullivers travels We saw a pretty good two-tiered tide-pool that you had to hike to to get to. It was gorgeous and NO ONE ELSE WAS THERE. We also saw a pretty sweet blowhole. Bring lots of water for hiking though!
We hope to do some hiking as well. Thanks for the tip on the bike ride. I'm quite a bit more of a "scardy cat" when it comes to being on things that move quickly downhill haha so its nice to hear a forewarning about the sunrise bikeride.
DO IT!!! I went on one on Kuaii and it was amazing..also did a dolphin sunset cruise and an ATV tour that takes you through the tunnel that they filmed Indiana satire in gullivers travels Jones running from a huge bolder...(to be honest I've never watched those movies but it was pretty neat) Good luck!
