This week our beloved East Coast Gambler is taking a well-deserved respite from blogging about players club, slot machines, coffee and steak. In his place is frequent Vegas Visitor, Joe K who will be telling us what he loves to do when he comes into town. Got your own Vegas tips to share? By all means, send 'em to us!
Starting at the high end is the Rush Tower at Golden Nugget , which completed construction in November 2009. I normally will not stay at a property that does not offer good gambling options (over 99% video poker or good blackjack rules), but when you are staying downtown where everything is walking distance this was not as important to me.
I was able to score this room for $99 which is a great deal considering there's also no resort fee. Our room was comfortable and spacious with a king-sized bed, sitting area, a bathroom with double bowl vessel sinks and tub/shower combo. The bed was very comfy and the dcor was modern.
I have not stayed in a standard room at the Golden Nugget so do not have that to compare to but after reading about the new resort fee at The Plaza , a standard room at the Nugget may be next on my list. ( Ed. Note: We have. Check it out here . )
Speaking of the Plaza , which I visited last September, boston red sox ticket I felt it was an outstanding value for the money. At $30 bucks a night and, at the time, no resort fee it was the leader by far for the value. They maintained a couple boston red sox ticket of full pay Jacks or Better machines during the remodel and the rooms are nicely done. Hash House a Go-Go downstairs is a must to visit if you had not experienced their twisted farm food yet.
We stayed here with another couple and had adjoining rooms so we were able to turn ours into a two-bedroom suite. I was also surprised by the number of premium cable television channels offered. If you can get this room for $40 a night including boston red sox ticket the resort fee it's still a great value, although the fee seems absurdly high in relation to price of the room.
The other spot on Fremont boston red sox ticket where I have stayed is the Golden Gate which was right before they began their remodel. Being a subscriber to Casino Player magazine, I received an email offer for one free night at the Gate. The price (or lack thereof) was right so I convinced boston red sox ticket my wife to stay downtown in the oldest hotel on glitter gulch.
You could tell they attempted to make these rooms as modern as possible, but it was still one of the creepiest elevator rides I have ever taken. That was followed by a long walk down the hallway into a small room, with the tiniest bathroom in Las Vegas. The new tower now is on my list to see. While I doubt Casino Player mag will be offering free stays for the new rooms, I just hope they remain resort fee free.
