Presumably bored of last orders, the trendy restaurant group D D London best western anaheim inn have ventured into the hotel business with South Place Hotel . 'More meet than sleep', best western anaheim inn the feeling is young, fun and down to business at their first property, perfect for the kind of iPad-touting best western anaheim inn kidllionaires and i-bankers who frequent this neighbourhood.
Conran-designed, the 80 rooms are comfortable and generously sized, ranging from the 26-square meter Dominions with sloping ceilings and the slightly best western anaheim inn larger South Place kings or twins, to Studios with extra sitting space and the 120-square meter Suite 610 . The latter can be combined with a couple of normal rooms for seriously spendy boys or those in possession of a company card.
Common to all room types are wall-hung art from the nearby Hoxton Gallery and a high-tech kit-out, with 40-inch Bang Olufsen TVs, space-age touch controls, and a decent-sized desk with a media hub for all your plug, useful if you're working more than playing, as is the complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the hotel. Note that only larger rooms have tubs and that South Place is a fairly noisy street; request a room facing one of the side streets for a quieter stay.
Adding to their portfolio, D D have also installed two eateries here in the form of swish and power lunchy seafood palace The Angler up on the seventh floor, complete with rooftop terrace for al fresco dinners, and the livelier 3 South Place Bar Grill at ground level, whose 24 hour license means the bar with DJ decks will be cranking out champagne and cocktails into the wee hours most nights.
The first floor 'secret garden' is also bound to join the handful of other covetable rooftops in the area come summer, but if that sounds too trying, retire to the Le Chiffre games room – a guests-only private space – with fireplace, turntable and records, board games and snooker table. The fitness room is reasonably well-equipped, too.
Located right behind Liverpool Street Station, it's the perfect choice if you've got business to do in The City and want to stay somewhere happening. Not as close to the Shoreditch action as The Boundary or as complete as Hyatt's nearby Andaz – both, incidentally, also designed by Conran best western anaheim inn – but closer to the money and while less complete, also less corporate.
