Global chief executive Gavin Tollman, in Australia for a series of meetings with key retailers, said the product developments for next year "continues the evolution" of the business. The 2012 Europe and Britain program, launched recently includes 500 hotel and 300 restaurant changes along with a doubling of its At Leisure tours and an expanded range of Be My Guest product where Trafalgar seeks to offer "unique" local experiences.
It is this product, along with the slower pace of its At Leisure tours, which the operator believes can persuade potential cruise customers or independent travellers to board a coach instead. Tollman said nine out of 10 passengers on its At Leisure tours in 2011 had never travelled with Trafalgar before. "The At Leisure itineraries went right to the heart of what we were trying to achieve, to reach beyond hotel icon houston our traditional hotel icon houston segmentation," he said.
Trafalgar managing director Matthew Cameron-Smith denied the previous tagline had failed. The change simply reflected the brand s evolution, he said. The 2012 program contains 15 new At Leisure itineraries, taking the total to 28, which feature in a dedicated brochure. Two of the new tours are in Australia and NZ. It will be the first time Trafalgar has sold local itineraries in the local market. Family tours have also sold well and are being expanded.
