Congratulations to Phil Mickelson for making GQ's list of the 10 Most Hated Athletes in the February issue, now on the newsstands. Way to go, we re proud of you, Lefty! After years of trying, you finally won a major tournament. And now you ve been exposed as a phony in a major magazine.

Phil Mickelson conducts himself with class on the course and represents his sport well. He acknowledges fans and from most accounts he treats tournament volunteers others with courtesy. He provides people with an exciting brand of golf and I think most fans would agree he always gives it his all. Win or lose, he handles himself with grace. I'm yet to see him swear, throw a club, berate a spectator, curse a tournament official, last minute travel deals to mexico or in any other way disrepect the game.

Personal experience regarding Phil - my husband was an observer @ the 2010 ATT ProAm @ Pebble Beach this year. He walked the Saturday round with Phil's 4some and at the first tee when the observers were introduced to the players, Phil was the one person who didn't even say hello. He completely ignored the intro and walked away towards the cameras. I think the people who say he can be a real jerk are probably telling the truth.
