The real value of these rewards is the ability to combine the 25% discount to the 20% discount of Marriott's 5th Night Free Award. This creates a total 40% discount on the points needed based on the standard reward cost of a 5-night stay.
I consider Marriott Seasonal Awards to be one of the most exciting redemption opportunities since Hilton introduced Points Money Awards in 2011. This is a big development for Marriott Rewards and brings back some of the deep discounts last minute airline ticket deals lost when Marriott Rewards eliminated their old progressively discounted last minute airline ticket deals awards in 2009 when a category 7 hotel for 7 nights was discounted 40%. They replaced that table with a maximum 20% discount on 5th night free awards. The new Seasonal Awards look to have far more participating properties than PointSavers awards over the past couple years.
Cash Upgrade is $140 per night for a 1 Bedroom Suite for stays April 1 -September 30, 2013. The seasonal rate does not extend through November 2013, but this is the rate that was effective for November 2012.
The published rate difference between the base room at $375 and the 1 Bedroom Suite at $495 is only $120 per night. Upgrading a points reservation for $140 per night is an extra $20 over the published rates, but given the great value of points for this seasonal last minute airline ticket deals award, the extra $700 for a 5-night cash upgrade is a great value compared to paying published rates.

I have stayed at Amsterdam Marriott a few times. I love the location. Leidseplein is the heart of the entertainment in central Amsterdam. Vondel Park is the main city center park just outside the door. The museum district with Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum is a ten minute walk.
