We want to drive no more then 3-4 hours at a time, take in some theme parks and also a bit of beach,
Hi, me my husband and two children of 15 and 17 are flying into new york JFK airport on the 5th August and leave on 19th August, we are planning carnival cruise reviews inspiration to hire a car and do a mini road trip, any ideas of a route and what accomadation we should book in advance
2. What are you interested in seeing on your road trip? visit other cities, go to the beach for a few days, get out into the countryside for hiking/camping, visit rural parts of the northeast/small towns/history/culture?
carnival cruise reviews inspiration If you are headed for beaches you definitely will need reservtions. Some places rent for only a week at a time and almost everyplace will require you take at least Fri and Sat and sometimes Sun as well for a weekend.
carnival cruise reviews inspiration We want to drive no more then 3-4 hours at a time, take in some theme parks and also a bit of beach, carnival cruise reviews inspiration like the look of Niagara falls, any route or accomadation ideas of cheap, clean and basic hotels will be great, also do I book accomadation for the whole 14 night stay in August to make sure we do everything we have planned?
As everyone has said, it depends entirely on where you're going as to whether or not you'll need to book accommodations in advance. In Cape Cod, Long Island, and perhaps even the Hudson Valley absolutely yes, and in popular resort areas, carnival cruise reviews inspiration definitely you'll need to stay the whole weekend in the summer.
There are relatively few theme parks in the northeast, and none that is truly spectacular (nothing whatsoever on the scale of Walt Disney World or even Disneyland for that matter). We have Hershey carnival cruise reviews inspiration Park in Pennsylvania and Great Adventure in New Jersey.
I think it really depends on where you want to go. I'd probably recommend going down toward DC and Wiliamsburg, where there is a theme park as well as lots of interesting US historical sights (assuming you are interested in US history). Around Williamsburg and DC you'll need reservations. carnival cruise reviews inspiration You could probably go down as far as Charleston or Myrtle Beach (great beaches), though I'd recommend heading instead to the Asheville area in North Carolina for spectacular scenery. You could even do Dollywood.
Another carnival cruise reviews inspiration route takes you north into cooler areas of New England, perhaps as far as Maine. There are theme parks that direction, but fewer and farther between. But there's also a lot of history. You can do Niagara carnival cruise reviews inspiration Falls, but it takes you far out of the way (to the north and west) of the most interesting parts of New England and would take 3 days total (including long long drives to and from). But many people want to do it.
Either way, with two weeks and a lack of interest in long-term driving, I'd recommend the southern route even though it's hotter. You'll find spectacular scenery in the mountains of North Carolina (reservations required in the summer).
